Divide and Conquer Workshop using the Journey Quilt - September 20 & 27 Sun Prairie

In this class you will “Quilt Your Own Quilt” using the Journey Quilt pattern and the technique taught during the class. The pattern is delightful, yet quick and easy style to piece.  You can use precuts to make it go even faster.  Prior to class you will choose your fabrics, and then piece the quilt following the instructions, stopping when you have the quilt pieced in two sections as the pattern shows you.   Allow a couple of weeks before the class meets to complete the piecing.  The first day of this class will focus on layering your quilt, learning the quilting plan, and then quilting your quilt.  The second day, you will finish the quilting, and learn how to put the quilt together using their technique called “cyndikation”.   No one will ever know that you quilted it in smaller sections to make it easier to do on your own home machine.  Once you take this class, you will be able to apply these techniques to most any quilt you piece. The cost of the pattern ($9.00) and is in addition to the class fee.

Class Description This class provides you an opportunity to journey beyond ?piecer? to ?quilter?. You will learn a technique to divide your quilt top into 2 ? 4 sections to make it manageable to quilt on your home sewing machine. This technique is called ? Cyndikation ?. It was developed by Cindy Fenster and Kathy Doyle. The class is based on using the pattern called Journey Quilt #1, a scrappy throw quilt which finishes at 48? x 48?. It is a delightful quilt which could reflect any theme you would like, based on your choice of fabrics and border prints. The pattern is only available to students attending the class. The cost is $9 (not included in class fee). Before class meets, follow the pattern instructions. Allow yourself a couple of weeks to piece the top. Stop when you have the quilt in two sections and borders added according to the pattern. The first day of class will focus on layering your quilt, learning the quilting design, and then quilting it. The next day, you will finish the quilting, and learn how to put the quilt together using ?Cyndikation?. No one will ever know that you quilted it in smaller sections to make it easier to handle on your home machine. Once you take this class, you will be able to apply these techniques to most any quilt you piece. Supply List: o Journey Quilt #1 Pattern,Fabric, and Hobbs 80/20 Fusible Batting o Sewing machine in good working order, and it is a good idea to bring along the instruction manual for your machine.
